Good afternoon, Beyonders!
You’ve been asking for a development update for a while, and we’re excited to share what the team has been working on and what we’ve committed to moving forward.
Before we fully shift our focus to long-term development roadmaps, we want to complete the following tasks. Once these are wrapped up, we’ll be free to concentrate on major future content, such as new planets with questlines, new resources, new instances, expanded systems, a new space zone, and much more.
Arena PvE
We are introducing Arena PvE, where you’ll be able to queue solo or as a duo. The arena will feature multiple themed encounters with unique NPCs. For example, choosing a Droid theme may generate waves of IG-88–style enemies.
Your objective is simple: survive as long as possible while progressing through increasingly challenging levels.
Throughout the match, players will have access to:
- A Bacta Tank for healing
- Random buff circles that provide offensive boosts (damage, crit, etc.), defensive bonuses, or support enhancements such as heal potency and action regeneration
- Barricades to help absorb incoming damage
- Additional hidden mechanics and surprises that we’ll reveal closer to release
A separate leaderboard will exist for duos, with scoring calculated slightly differently (details coming soon).
The scripting for the Arena is complete, and we are now moving into testing. The Arena itself is a fully new, Beyond-exclusive area, built entirely from the ground up. You will earn a new currency, which can be spent on items, player titles, and more.
Arena PvP
Arena PvP has been active for a while, and we’ve taken your feedback on board, particularly the request to shift from Imperial vs. Rebel to Red vs. Blue. The arena system will be updated to support this change.
The system itself will also receive improvements. Once the update goes live, the ELO rating and leaderboard system will become fully active. Players will be able to compete for the top 3 spots, earning unique perks, items, titles, and more.
Each season will run for roughly a month, after which the leaderboard will reset and a new season will begin.
Ground and Space Leaderboards
After extensive discussion, we’ve decided to split the leaderboard into two separate systems: one for ground and one for space. Each leaderboard will provide its own unique rewards and perks. You will still earn GCW as usual, nothing about the GCW system is changing but leaderboard points will now be tracked independently.
The current leaderboard system will undergo a full overhaul, with many components rewritten to address existing bugs. With expanded logging already in place, we’ll be able to identify and resolve issues much more efficiently.
If you’re active in both ground and space, you’ll be able to compete on both leaderboards.
Please note that the current reward structure will also be updated, as there is currently little incentive to challenge the leaderboards.
OG Heroic Modes
This will be a completely new system and will not be linked to Hardmode or Legendary. Players will be able to select the mode before entering. The current mode will remain the default, but higher difficulty options will be available. The mode you choose will determine how challenging the NPCs and bosses are, for example, they will deal more damage and require more to bring down.
There will be no overlap with Hardmode or Legendary, as those modes use unique combat systems.
Loot will be tailored to the selected mode. If you choose the current mode, the token payout will remain 1. Selecting a more difficult mode will increase the payout to 2 tokens, and so on.
This update will also introduce new vendor items. While the currency will remain the same, the vendor itself will be receiving some much-needed attention.
Vendor Lists
All vendors, from Mustafar to OG Heroics, as well as Battlefield, Flashpoint, and Space vendors, will receive additional items to encourage players to revisit older content.
We are also open to allowing certain PvE-specific items to be obtainable through PvP, but this will be handled on a case-by-case basis to maintain proper balance.
World Bosses
Revise World Boss loot and vendor items to encourage stronger participation.
Other Game Systems
SWG has a wide variety of minigames, and we want to give them some well-deserved attention. All of these systems will be reviewed, and some will receive expanded content. This will include new items, new collections, server-first achievements, and more, the list goes on.
