Greetings Beyonders!
I wanted to take a moment to explain a concerning issue that has become more prevalent in today's digital age and within our community: doxxing.
What is Doxxing?
Doxxing (sometimes spelled "doxing") refers to the malicious act of publicly revealing or publishing private and personal information about an individual without their consent. This information can include full names, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, workplace details, and even private social media profiles. The intent behind doxxing is often to harm, harass, intimidate, or threaten someone, and it can take place across various online platforms, from social media to forums.
Why is Doxxing Dangerous?
The repercussions of doxxing can be severe. Victims of doxxing may face:
Harassment: Once personal information is exposed, the victim may become the target of online bullying, stalking, or unwanted attention.
Threats: In extreme cases, doxxing can lead to physical threats or dangerous situations.
Emotional and Mental Impact: The invasion of privacy and sense of vulnerability can result in significant emotional distress or anxiety for the person affected.
Loss of Privacy: It can feel like a complete breach of trust, as personal information that was once kept private is now out in the open.
How to Protect Yourself from Doxxing?
Be mindful of what you share: Limit the amount of personal information you share in game, on discord and on our forums.
Use pseudonyms: For extra privacy, consider using pseudonyms or not disclosing certain details about your life.
Report threats: If you feel like you’re being targeted, report any threatening content to staff using the harassment tab in discord.
Doxxing is not just an invasion of privacy; it's a serious violation of trust and can have real-world consequences. It’s crucial that we all work together to protect each other online and create a safe space for every on Beyond.
If anyone is found in violation of Doxxing staff or any member of the Beyond community, will be dealt with ZERO tolerance and likely resulting in permanent suspension.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. I hope this explanation sheds some light on the issue and helps you take steps to protect your own privacy.
Take care and stay safe online.
Warm regards,
Beyond Staff
