Happy belated New Year everyone!
Another year of SWG Beyond is upon us, another year of pushing the limits of SWG and delivering new features and exciting content. We recently released our mini roadmap, which we’re aiming to wrap up soon before diving headfirst into the full roadmap for the year ahead.
This past year has been a good one overall, though not without change. We’ve seen shifts within the team, some staff members have moved on, and new ones have stepped up and grown. Finding the right people is never easy, but I truly believe we’re getting there. We’re always open to growing the team, and the most important qualities we look for are trust, dedication, and a willingness to learn. If you can offer that, there may very well be a place for you with us.
On a personal note, this year has been a big one for me as well. I went from single life to moving in with my partner and her two kids, so as you can imagine, that’s had an impact on my available SWG time. Add to that three dogs, over twenty fish, and two rabbits, and things stay pretty busy! I’ve always preferred being busy over being bored, and while my dedication hasn’t changed, I still love what we do, it’s all about finding the right balance to keep everyone happy, including Beyond.
With that in mind, we have a number of smaller goals to check off before we move into the really juicy content, so stay tuned. One exciting highlight: the PvE Arenas are nearly complete. They feature a unique new location, NPCs with boss mechanics, profession-based leaderboards, and much more. This content is currently on our dev server undergoing testing and balancing.
Looking ahead, our focus this year is growth and retention. To retain players, we need to consistently release purposeful content that keeps people logging in and engaged. To grow, we’re looking for a dedicated social media team member who can share updates, engage with the wider community, and encourage new players to give Beyond a try. If you know someone who fits that role, let us know!
Thank you all for bearing with us through the ups and downs. While it hasn’t always been smooth sailing, there have been far more ups than downs.
Here’s to another great year of SWG Beyond.
