Concept Proposal: A New Multi-Chapter Storyline & Endgame Raid

Cauios

New member

I've been working on a concept for a substantial new piece of content for SWG Beyond.

Before I take the idea much further, I'd really like to see what the community thinks about the overall direction — and whether this is something people would actually be excited to play.

I'm deliberately not going to reveal the storyline, major characters, locations or twists in this post.

If something like this ever did become playable, I'd much rather people experience those moments in-game than already know where the story is heading.

The Concept

The proposal is for a 10-chapter story campaign, with approximately 3–4 quests per chapter.

That would put the complete storyline somewhere around 35–40 quests.

Rather than being a collection of disconnected missions, all ten chapters would tell one continuous story.

The idea is for the scale to gradually increase as you progress.

What begins as something relatively grounded would eventually lead players somewhere I don't think they'll initially expect.

Investigation and discovery would also be important.

I'd like missions to involve things such as exploration, following leads, recovering information, interacting with characters, discovering hidden locations and piecing together what happened — alongside combat where it makes sense.

I don't want 40 variations of:

"Travel here and kill 20 enemies."

Chapter 5 — Something Different

At approximately the halfway point, the storyline would lead into its first major bespoke story instance.

I'm deliberately not explaining what happens inside it.

It's one of the parts of the story I'm most excited about, and revealing the mechanic would spoil a significant moment.

What I can say is that I'd like to experiment with telling a story in a way that's a little different from a standard SWG mission.

The things discovered here would fundamentally change the direction of the remaining chapters.

Early Reward Concept — Armour Set

Concept artwork only. Final implementation, stats and acquisition would obviously be something to work out with the Beyond team.

Chapters 6–9 — Things Get Bigger

The second half of the campaign would build directly from what players discover during the first.

The scale of the threat increases.

New enemies and locations are introduced.

Earlier mysteries begin making sense.

There could also potentially be a smaller group encounter during this part of the campaign that introduces players to some of the mechanics they'll encounter later.

Everything ultimately prepares players for Chapter 10.

And I'm intentionally saying absolutely nothing else about that. 🙂

Early Reward Concept — Jetpack

Another potential reward associated with the proposed content.

Chapter 10 — Endgame Raid

The storyline would ultimately culminate in a new multi-encounter endgame raid.

I don't want the raid to simply be:

Big enemy → enormous health pool → everyone DPS.

I'd like encounters where players have to understand mechanics, react to what's happening around them and coordinate with one another.

More importantly, I'd love to explore mechanics that give different SWG professions reasons to be there.

SWG has an incredible variety of professions.

Where possible, I'd like the raid to reward groups for actually using that variety rather than simply discovering the strongest possible composition and stacking it.

Different professions could potentially have opportunities to solve mechanics, protect the group, control enemies, interact with objectives or otherwise contribute beyond raw DPS.

The final encounter would conclude the ten-chapter storyline — while potentially leaving opportunities for future stories if Beyond ever wanted to continue it.

Early Reward Concept — Jedi Starfighter ITV

One of the reward ideas I've been playing with is a Jedi Starfighter-themed Instant Travel Vehicle.

The intention would be for the base version to be a significant prestige reward associated with completing the content.

It would function using Beyond's existing ITV system rather than introducing a completely new travel mechanic.

Continued Progression

I'd also like completing the main rewards to not mean you're finished with the content.

One possibility would be a token system earned through continued participation.

Those tokens could potentially be exchanged for cosmetic rewards — including alternative colour schemes for the Starfighter ITV.

That gives players something long-term to work towards without making the recoloured versions mechanically superior.

Other potential token rewards could include cosmetics, decorations, armour appearances, badges, titles or similar collectables.

Exactly how rewards and tokens would work would obviously need balancing and input from the Beyond team.

Potential Reward Concepts

So far I've started thinking about:

• A complete new armour set
• A new jetpack
• Jedi Starfighter ITV
• Starfighter ITV colour variants
• Weapons / cosmetic rewards
• Collections
• Badges and titles
• Decorations
• Schematics
• Repeatable token rewards

These are concepts rather than a proposed final loot table.

Why Am I Posting This?

I want to be very clear that this isn't an announcement from SWG Beyond.

Nothing in this post should be interpreted as content that the Beyond team has agreed to develop.

This is a community concept that I've been working on because I'd genuinely love to contribute towards creating something substantial for the server.

I'm willing to put significant time into developing the storyline, quests, dialogue, encounter concepts, reward designs and assets.

But before building dozens of quests and producing a huge amount of work, I want to find out whether this is something the community would actually want.

And, if there's enough interest, hopefully it could eventually lead to a conversation with the Beyond development team about what would realistically be required to turn a concept of this scale into playable content.

So I'd love your feedback.

Would you play a 10-chapter, ~35–40 quest story campaign culminating in a new endgame raid?

What would you most want from a new long-form SWG Beyond storyline?

What do you think makes an SWG questline memorable?

And what would make you want to continue running the endgame content months after completing the story?

I'm particularly interested in thoughts around raid mechanics, profession diversity, replayability and rewards.

I'll happily talk about the overall design and take ideas on board.

But there's one thing I'm not revealing yet:

The story.

If this ever gets made, I'd rather you discover that yourselves.
