With so much amazing custom content on SWG Beyond, standard municipal buildings like Medical Centers have unfortunately become obsolete "checklist" structures used only for clearing rez sickness or changing cybernetics. To drive active player traffic back into these spaces and give player cities a meaningful reason to maintain hospitals, I propose adding two simple, high-impact location modifiers when players utilize a functioning Medical Center:
1. The "Bacta Network" Location Bonus (Buff Extension)
Currently, player convenience dictates getting buffed by macro bots at starports or field camps because the difference in location duration isn't drastic enough to justify traveling to a hospital.
2. "Bacta Rejuvenation" Structure Perk (Either/Or Choice)
To give non-Medics a concrete reason to step inside a hospital, entering a Medical Center or interacting with a clinic terminal should grant a 1-hour passive world buff. Depending on what the development team feels fits the server's balance goals better, this could be implemented as either a combat utility or a progression boost:
Summary
These changes don't nerf the convenience of field medic buffing, but they introduce a "premium tier" of efficiency that rewards players for interacting with physical city infrastructure. It gives Structures Traders a reason to craft them, Mayors a reason to place them, and players a new social hub to congregate in.
Thank you for considering!
1. The "Bacta Network" Location Bonus (Buff Extension)
Currently, player convenience dictates getting buffed by macro bots at starports or field camps because the difference in location duration isn't drastic enough to justify traveling to a hospital.
- The Change: Any Medic casting a group or individual attribute buff while physically standing inside a Medical Center should have the baseline duration of those buffs doubled (or a flat +1 hour added to the base calculation before jewelry modifiers are applied).
- Why it works: Dedicated raiders and groups will actively seek out city hospitals to "overcharge" their buffs for long heroic sessions, clearing out starport clutter and turning local hospitals back into the social pre-raid hubs they used to be.
- Option A (Combat Utility Focus): Grants a minor, highly desirable combat utility stat like +5 Action Point Regeneration or +20 Stamina. Because managing Action Points is a universal mechanic during intense fights, this minor optimization would make visiting a hospital an absolute must for endgame heroic raiders and PvPers before heading out.
- Option B (Progression/Leveling Focus): Grants a modest 5% to 10% bonus to Combat/Crafting Experience and Faction Point gains. This acts exactly like a traditional MMO "rested XP" mechanic, drawing in newer players, Traders grinding lines, and GCW faction farmers looking to optimize their daily loops.
